Gamer DIY fabric print and more

I wanted to design some funky fabric for my sons' birthday surprise outfit. However knowing the custom printed fabric won't get to me in time I had to improvise with a DIY printing method.

He is really into games right now and game console seemed like a great theme to design under. I made a little console lino cut after looking at countless designs of game consoles.

However when came to printing with the block I encounter some difficulties. some fabric paint I had on hand was not up to scratch and the image didn't turn up clear enough on paper and would be worse on fabric.

I had an assortment of colours in Fabrico markers for fabric, and tried those bad guys! Since I had a rainbow colours this is what I painted on the lino cut block.

I've covered the block in stripy pattern with the Fabrico markers and made an impression on the fabric. It worked! it came up really nicely so I bit the bullet and stated printing a length of fabric that I would need to make this outfit.

Colours used for my rainbow:

#153 Autumn Leaf

#111 Lemon yellow

#110 Green apple

#119 Cerulean blue

#116 Peony purple

Last step was heat setting with and iron and that's it DIY printed fabric using the Fabrico fabric markers! I'm rather pleased with my efforts. Not to make the finished outfit!

PS. In the meantime I made few digital designs that you can purchase in my shop and use to print a fabric to use in your own makes! Don't forget to let us know what you made at @Stargazing_Seamstres
